What affects a Can-Am quad's price
Outlander hours, and a wash first
Wash it first. A clean Outlander photographs far better than a muddy one. Send the hours or miles, plus a shot of the frame.
Visco-Lok and 4WD
Most Outlanders have Can-Am's Visco-Lok front diff, and some have the selectable Visco-4Lok. Check 4WD engages and mention any belt slip.
DPS power steering
DPS is Can-Am's Dynamic Power Steering. A working DPS model is worth more than a base model, so tell us if yours has it.
Tractor-registered T versions
In the UK Can-Am sells tractor-approved T versions of the Outlander, and a registered one comes with a V5C that we'll want to see on the day.
Aftermarket tuning (declare it)
A remap or a clutch kit changes the price, and so does a snorkel. Tell us what's been done and whether you kept the original parts.
Can-Am ID and paperwork
V5C if it's registered, the invoice if not, plus your ID. Mods don't change what we check.
Outlander vs Renegade
If you want to sell your Can-Am quad, the first thing to tell us is whether it's an Outlander or a Renegade. They share engines but sell to different people.
Outlander
The utility quad. It's built to carry and tow, and many have a winch. Can-Am has built Outlanders since the early 2000s. The first ones ran from 400 up to 800, and the later generation from 450 up to the 1000R. For 2024 an all-new Outlander 500 and 700 arrived, both using a 650cc Rotax single. The MAX adds a passenger seat. The 6x6 adds a third axle and a bed. Every Outlander size is covered on this page, and farm ones get a mention on our working farm quad page too.
Renegade
The sporty one: the same kind of engines as the Outlander, in a lighter, sportier machine without the big load racks. Renegades launched for 2007 and are often modified for mud or trail riding, so tell us about any mods. Here is how we value a modified Renegade or sports quad.
DS
The DS 450 is Can-Am's race quad. The DS 70 and DS 90 are youth quads with a speed limiter screw on the handlebar; we buy those through our kids' quad page.
Traxter or Maverick? Different pages

Burnt belts and mud-soaked Renegades
A burnt belt lowers the price. So does a seized Rotax. Even then the suspension and engine cases hold plenty of value. Renegades that have spent their lives in the mud are fine too, and if it won't run, the winch pulls it on. See how we buy a Can-Am or any quad that won't start.
Can-Am frame numbers: check the lower left tube
On most Can-Am quads the frame number (VIN) is stamped on the lower left frame tube, around the footwell. Can-Am's operator's guide shows the exact spot for your model. Stuck? Do you buy T-plated Outlanders?
Yes. Bring the V5C. A T-plated Outlander that's properly registered to you is usually easier for us to sell on.
My Outlander isn't T-plated and has no V5C. Can I still sell it?
You can. Plenty of Outlanders never go on the road, so the invoice does the job alongside the frame number.
