How we price a Sur-Ron
Pack voltage and health
60V on a Light Bee, 74V on an Ultra Bee, 104V on a Storm Bee. How old is the pack, and where did it spend the winter? A rough cycle count helps.
Aftermarket controller?
Most Sur-Ron builds start with an EBMX or KO unit, or one from ASI, and because a 72V pack needs a controller built for it we'll ask what's paired with what.
Stock parts kept in a box
Include the charger and both keys. Swapped-out stock parts go with it too.
Headstock number against the invoice
An invoice made out to you, quoting the number stamped at the headstock, is worth money. So is the V5C on an L1e or Ultra Bee T.
Crash damage and worn forks
Cracked plastics? Bent bars? Priced in, along with leaking fork seals. Honest photos avoid surprises.
The Sur-Ron range, in short
To sell your Sur-Ron we need the model first. The three main bikes run three different voltages.
Light Bee X
The bike that made the name, and the one most often built up. Early bikes carry a 60V 32Ah pack, later ones 60V 40Ah. Our Light Bee X valuation page prices each common upgrade, and the Talaria XXX, its nearest rival, is judged on the same things.
Light Bee L1e (road legal)
An L1e moped capped at 45km/h (28mph), with a V5C. Derestricted? Then it's no longer road legal, and that changes the figure.
Storm Bee
The biggest Sur-Ron runs a 104V pack and is built for enduro and track riders. Read how a Storm Bee is priced.
Ultra Bee and Ultra Bee T
The 74V middle bike, sold as the off-road X or the registered T. Being the newest, it often comes with finance or warranty questions: see selling an Ultra Bee on finance or under warranty.
Hyper Bee and Light Bee 2
We'll look at these too. Describe yours on the form.
Whatever the model, the pack is the biggest number, as our Sur-Ron battery health guide explains.
Sur-Ron ownership checks, start to finish
Before paying for any Sur-Ron we need your ID and proof that the bike is yours, and the number stamped on the headstock has to match it. Tidy paperwork earns a better offer.
What to have ready for a Sur-Ron sale
- Photo ID in the name on your receipt or V5C.
- The dealer invoice. No invoice? The order email and the bank statement showing payment will do.
- The V5C for a Light Bee L1e or Ultra Bee T.
- A sharp photo of the headstock, where the forks meet the frame. Sur-Ron stamps the number there.
Bought privately? Our guide to showing a machine is yours without the original receipt lists what else counts.
Sur-Rons we have to turn down
We can't buy a Sur-Ron you can't show you own. Nor one with the headstock number ground away or re-stamped, or missing altogether. Same if police have seized it or are looking into it.
Light Bee lookalikes are sold online, so if yours isn't genuine, say so at the start and we'll be straight about where that leaves us. Since 29 June 2026 police can seize without warning first; read what the no-warning seizure rule means for owners.
Where a Sur-Ron can be ridden
Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.
With no pedals and power well beyond the 250-watt e-bike limit, a Light Bee X is a motor vehicle in law. It could only use a road after type approval and registration, and even then it would need taxing and insuring like any motorbike, with a licensed rider on board. So only the L1e Light Bee and the Ultra Bee T are road legal, and then only once registered. Our guide to whether a Sur-Ron can go on UK roads sets it out.
We collect free from any Kent postcode. London and the South East too. You're paid by bank transfer before the Sur-Ron is strapped down.

Selling a Sur-Ron: your questions
Which Sur-Ron models do you buy?
Light Bee X and L1e, Storm Bee, Ultra Bee (off-road and T) and Hyper Bee. Anything else, pick the nearest on the Sur-Ron offer form.
Do you buy Sur-Rons with an upgraded controller?
We do. Name the controller and tune, and whether you kept the stock unit.
Is my Sur-Ron road legal?
Only a factory road version (Light Bee L1e or Ultra Bee T) registered with a V5C. Every other Sur-Ron is off-road only.
No receipt for my Sur-Ron: can you still buy it?
Often. The order email can prove it's yours, or the bank statement showing payment. We check it against the headstock number.
My Sur-Ron has finance left on it. Is that a problem?
No. We pay the lender directly. The balance comes to you before loading.
