Thanet was an island until the Wantsum Channel silted up. It still works like one, with towns round the coast and farmland in the middle. Birchington and Acol are CT7 and Westgate-on-Sea is CT8. Margate and Cliftonville make up CT9. Broadstairs has CT10 to itself with St Peter's, and Ramsgate is CT11. Minster and Manston share CT12 with Monkton. Collection is free from all six.

Across the middle of the island, some of the most productive farmland in Kent grows cereals and potatoes on a big scale alongside field vegetables. The Thanet Earth glasshouses near Birchington, off the A299 at Monkton, are the biggest in the UK. Towards Pegwell Bay and the Stour the land round Minster turns to marsh and grazing.

Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.

In along the Thanet Way or through Sarre

From the A299 Thanet Way we reach Monkton and Manston; from Sarre the A28 runs on to Birchington and Margate, and the A253 links Sarre back to the A299 at Monkton. On the island, the A254 joins Margate to Ramsgate and the A256 heads south from Westwood Cross towards Sandwich.
