TN9 to TN12 round the castle and beyond

TN9 is the town centre and the streets south of it. North Tonbridge, up towards Higham Wood, is TN10. TN11 is the rural ring round the town: Hildenborough, Leigh, Penshurst, Hadlow, Golden Green and Tudeley. TN12 takes in Paddock Wood and East Peckham. Five Oak Green and Capel too.

West to Penshurst, east to Beltring

Hildenborough and Leigh lie west of town. Penshurst and Chiddingstone Causeway are further out in the Medway and Eden valleys. East of town it's Hadlow and Golden Green, then East Peckham. The road to Paddock Wood runs through Tudeley and Five Oak Green. Beltring is just beyond.

East of town the valley is orchards and hop gardens. Those farms work Gators and quads hard. Crates get moved and sprayers get towed all season. Hadlow sits right in the middle, and so does Hadlow College, which is Kent's only land-based college. Cabbed diesels such as the Gator XUV 865M are built for exactly this work.

E-bikes from Tonbridge town

Sur-Rons and Talarias come to us from the town, some stock, some modified. Haysden Country Park is public land. So are the riverside paths. Neither is somewhere to ride one.

Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.

Paddock Wood grew up around the railway and the hop trade. The oast houses dotted across this stretch of valley are the reminder. At Beltring the Hop Farm, with its row of oasts, is an events venue now, while the farms around it still grow fruit and hops.

The A21 bypasses the town to the east, linking the M25 with Tunbridge Wells. The A26 runs north through Hadlow towards Maidstone and south to Tunbridge Wells, the A227 heads north to Borough Green, and the A228 links Paddock Wood with East Peckham and on towards West Malling.
