Light Bee controller swaps
Usually the first upgrade. Plug-in units replace the stock controller and add a lot of power. The EBMX X-9000 is a common one. ASI's BAC4000 and BAC8000 are others, and KO makes them too. A known brand set up properly usually helps. A cheap unbranded one may not. Tell us what's fitted.
72V conversions and bigger packs
A 72V pack only works with a controller built for that voltage, so tell us both. Who built the pack matters, and so does the age of the cells and their make. A branded pack adds value. An anonymous one adds far less.
Light Bee gearing and suspension
Uprated forks that have been serviced help the price. So do bigger brakes. Gearing is easy to reverse, so it barely moves the figure.
Keeping the stock Light Bee parts
Still got the original controller or pack? Include them, along with any stock sprockets or forks. One that can go back to factory spec is worth more to us.
Genuine Sur-Ron or a copy?
Light Bee copies are sold online, some very close to the real thing. We check every bike. On a genuine Sur-Ron the VIN is stamped into the headstock and should match your invoice. Everything else should be Sur-Ron's own, from the frame to the motor, unless it's an upgrade you've told us about.

Which pack is in your Light Bee X?
The pack is the dearest part of a Light Bee and moves the price most. Earlier bikes came with 32Ah and later ones with 40Ah, and some now run an aftermarket pack, so tell us which yours has and roughly how many charges it's done. Did it ever sit flat for weeks?

Light Bee paperwork and the headstock VIN
Before we pay for a Light Bee, the number on its headstock has to match your proof of ownership, and we'll want to see photo ID. Strongest of all is a dealer invoice in your name. Without one we'll look at the order email or a bank statement. Finance paperwork works too. An L1e needs its V5C.

Riding a Light Bee X legally
Most Sur-Ron, Talaria, Stark Varg and E Ride Pro models are not road legal. They're for private land with the landowner's permission, and tracks. We never suggest riding a non-road-legal bike on public roads.
Of the Light Bees, only the registered L1e may use the road, and derestricting one takes it out of its road-legal state, so we need to know if yours has been. Our guide to the Light Bee and UK road law has the detail.

Sometimes. A branded pack fitted with a matching controller usually adds value. An unknown one may add very little.
